Mr. Peabody’s Comedy Night, Encinitas, CA Hosted by Heather Marie Zagone and Dan Bublitz, Jr. – January 13th, 2015
This evening after dinner I drove up with fellow comic Oliver Bascos from downtown to Mr. Peabody’s in Encinitas. I had to take that cat up here to North County as this has very quickly become one of my favorite bar mics for stand up comedy. It starts at 9:30pm on Tuesdays, which works for those nights I want to see if the new jokes sink or swim. The evening is hosted by the lovely Heather Marie Zagone and the even lovelier Dan Bublitz, Jr.
I received a few smiles and congratulations on the set. The cute redhead sitting up front ended up being there with her girlfriend. How do I know they were lesbians? Well… they proceeded to make out during Bryant Fauss’ set. I was trying my best to listen to Fauss’ set… but I have a thing for non ginger red heads. I was listening, but the girls groping & kissing in the front row was distracting. On the drive back downtown, Bascos told me that Mr. Peabody’s Comedy night reminded him of the old Rich the Stitch bar mics that used to be in Oceanside… which was before my time.
I listened to my set on my shitty iPhone when I got home. I had warmed the crowd up pretty good, then I tried one of my new jokes. Listening to it… I realized completely forgot the closing tag on the new joke. There will be another comedy mic to fix that, I know… but the new joke will have to wait until then… definitely needs some work (they always do), or did I misread the crowd. These are the things that go through my head as I lay down and try to go to sleep. Insomnia and odd sleep patterns have been with me, as far back as I can recall. This is nothing new.
Time: 7 minutes-ish (I’m not sure, I was lost in Zagone’s eyes… or the light)
Thank you very little,
